The rock splash pool provides some needed relief from the heat and the bird feeder provides hours of entertainment while relaxing on the stoep with your feet up. The short walk to the river opens up more opportunities to relax and offers picture perfect views of the Groot Marico river. We will definitely visit again!

It had lovely access to other farms adjacent to it so we could do fantastic walks (not too steep but not too flat just very wonderful easy bushwalks with lots of birdlife). We did not need to get into a car and drive anywhere. The actual eye of the marico river is about 30 minutes drive away but we were just happy right exactly where we were and never wanted to see our car .
It is also great for those who like do mountain biking.
The small camp site is beautifully set out and would be an amazing adventure for many campers who like to camp in comfort close to a river.
when we went we booked a maginficant little house/ unit and we had the whole place to ourselves. If you are sociable types and the place is full then all is good. As this place attracts nature lovers i dont think even if it is fully booked it would matter to those who like solitude because the units are relatively semi private from one another. Each unit has this funky little dip pool to cool off in the hot summer days. Having said that if you are a complete in the bush solitude type person who must not see or hear another person then this farm will not meet that need unless you are the only ones booked in.
We felt very safe.
It was very clean and tastefully decorated perfectly so.
Lovely light spatious comfortable house once you there you dont want to leave so book many days is better than just a night!
The owners are absolutely incredibly hospitable kind people who just make sure when you arrive everything you need is there down to the finest detail. You feel like a King or Queen.
They even treated my dog like he was a crown prince.
Truely they are the most special family and inspirational in their efforts to sustain what makes the Groot Marico Valley so special. It was a privaledge to meet them all.
The farm is organic and has amazing fruit trees and we were free to pick oranges and grapefruit and lemons and they were absolutely delicious.
It did cater as far as possible for the terrible electricity outages we are experiencing ( noting it does not have TV or very regualar internet access although a short distance from the unit you can pick up a cell signal)
Just bring a good book and good light to read it by and you will love every minute of your stay with or without Eskom. I know the owners are about to put solar energy in so if you read this just check the date because soon this comment will be out of date. Until then if you have to be without electricity this is the place to be without it and just relish in the sounds of the river and the sight of the stars.
I went there to find peace and i found it.

I also went for lovely walks and Lynnie, Rob and Lyle accompanied me to the river were we had a relaxing time. Lynnie, Lyle and Rob are very friendly and welcoming they made me feel at home.

I like the attention to detail like the braai light, the awning on the verandah, the fresh Hydrangeas in vases and the diffusers. There are even some games and a music system that can take USB sticks. What's also remarkable is Rob, Lynnie and Lyle's impeccable hospitality. As kids we also had Boer bull dogs so I liked meeting the two gentle giants, Neo and Misty. The river is special, food for the soul. There's also still a canal for irrigating the crops. The farm is beautiful and we loved the river swims, walks and complete isolation.
We stayed in the rain Rain Lily cottage, which is close to their house, but still private. The cottage is fenced which is great for roaming dogs and has a small splash pool and all the trimmings perfect for a rustic farm stay.

Its really great to find a space that is submerged in nature, but still safe for a small toddler and two city terriers! We would love to visit again very soon. More

We stayed in Le Butterfly, and it was magical. The accommodation was perfect, with all self catering needs met. We made a bonfire every night, fished at the river every morning (caught nothing ), gazed at the incredible canopy of stars every night.

There's hardly and cell phone reception, so we basically kept our phones off (a holiday on its own).

There was incredible bird and butterfly watching, while taking in the sights and sounds of nature, without any of the distractions of technology or city life.

What a peaceful and recharging 4 days. we will be back very soon.

  This was our second stay with Lynn, Rob and Lyle. Truly wonderful people who have become good friends. We continue to stay in touch between visits and once a year... read more is definitely not enough.

The accommodation is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. My wife and I have commented on both occasions that we could quite happily stay there permanently. My son absolutely loves Evergreen as there is a ton of outdoor things for him to do ie, climb trees, kayak (his own), fish, swim and dive at Marico oog(his favorite). Luckily cell phone signal is not great which forced us to forget about work, kick back and enjoy nature.

Marico oog is only 30km away from Evergreen. A SUV is recommended to get to the oog yet with slow careful driving, any vehicle would make it. Marico oog is safe and absolutely beautiful.

Groot Marico is a 15 - 20 minute drive away and has all the basics, should you forget to pack something or run out of beer 🙂

I can highly recommend Evergreen and will certainly be back.
